There is no GTA 6 PC release date. There is no announced PC version at all. Rockstar has not confirmed one exists, has not given a window, has not named a storefront, and has not published system requirements. GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on 19 November 2026, and that is the complete list of announced platforms.

The Extended Look on 27 August — the biggest marketing beat of the campaign — came and went without a single mention of PC.

We are labelling this page speculation because everything past the previous paragraph is inference. That is the honest tier, and it is worth more than a confident guess.

What Rockstar and Take-Two have actually said

Very little, and none of it is a commitment.

The most substantive comment came from Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick in May 2026, when Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier asked whether a Sony marketing deal was behind GTA 6 skipping PC. Zelnick’s answer: “No. I mean, historically Rockstar’s gone to console first.”

He expanded on the reasoning: “Rockstar always starts on console because I think with regard to a release like that you’re judged by serving the core. Like really serving the core consumer. If your core consumer isn’t there, if they’re not served first and best, you kind of don’t hit your other consumers.”

In the same conversation Zelnick undercut his own framing, noting that where NBA 2K’s PC version once made up around 5% of sales, “now with regard to a big title, PC can be 45, 50% of the sales.”

That is the entire official record. Zelnick describing a historical pattern is not Rockstar announcing a port.

What Rockstar’s port history implies

This is the only real evidence available, and it is not encouraging if you were hoping for spring.

Game Console launch PC announced PC launch Gap
GTA 4 29 April 2008 August 2008 2 December 2008 7 months
GTA 5 17 September 2013 June 2014 14 April 2015 19 months
Red Dead Redemption 2 26 October 2018 4 October 2019 5 November 2019 12 months
GTA 5 Enhanced 15 March 2022 (PS5/Series) 4 March 2025 ~3 years

Two patterns worth noticing, both from PC Gamer’s tracking:

  1. Rockstar does not announce early. GTA 4’s PC version was confirmed months after console launch. RDR2’s was confirmed a year after, with about a month’s notice before it shipped. Rockstar’s habit is to say nothing until the port is nearly ready.
  2. The gap has been widening, not shrinking, and GTA 5 shipped on two console generations before it reached PC at all.

PC Gamer’s own estimate, published the day after the Extended Look: a PC release “likely won’t be before November 2027,” with a real possibility of 2028 if Rockstar does a next-generation console pass — for the next Xbox, codenamed Project Helix, and a PlayStation 6 — before turning to PC. That is a guess by a well-informed outlet. It is not information.

The strongest argument that a PC version is coming anyway

Not from Rockstar, but from the console version itself.

Rockstar’s head of development Rob Nelson told visiting creators in August 2026 that GTA 6 runs at 30 frames per second on console during development, and that whether a 60fps option exists at launch is still an open question for the technical team. VGC’s framing of what that means is the relevant part: historically, the first high-framerate version of a Rockstar open world has been the PC port. GTA 5 did not hit 60fps on console until a re-release nine years later; RDR2 still has not.

If you want GTA 6 at high framerate, uncapped, with mod support, PC is where that happens. Rockstar knows this, and it is precisely the reason to hold the version back and sell it separately.

Why the delay is probably not about PlayStation

The Sony-exclusivity theory circulates constantly and does not hold up well. GTA 6 launches on Xbox Series X|S the same day — Sony’s closest competitor. Paying to keep a game off PC while it ships on Xbox would be an odd use of marketing money, and Zelnick denied a deal was the cause when asked directly.

The simpler explanation, which PC Gamer states bluntly and we agree with: Rockstar sells the game more than once. Console, then possibly next-generation console, then PC, is a schedule that maximises total revenue from one development effort. GTA 5 sold to the same people three times.

Things you will see online that are not true

  • “GTA 6 PC system requirements revealed.” Rockstar has published none. There is no version to have requirements for.
  • “GTA 6 PC release date confirmed for [date].” Nothing has been confirmed. Retailer placeholders and storefront database entries are not announcements.
  • “Steam page live.” No storefront has been named for a PC release.
  • Leaked build performance claims. Footage leaked in August 2026 came from console builds, and Rockstar publicly called the leaks “heartbreaking for our team.” Nothing in them speaks to a PC version.

What would count as real news

We will update this page — and change its confidence tier — when one of these happens:

  1. A Rockstar Newswire post naming PC as a platform.
  2. A storefront page for a PC version appearing on Steam, the Epic Games Store or the Rockstar Games Store.
  3. Published system requirements.
  4. A Take-Two earnings call or shareholder letter listing a PC SKU in the release schedule.

Nothing short of that moves this from speculation. If we have not updated lastVerified above, nothing has changed.
