GTA 6 Walkthrough & Mission List

No mission names, no mission order, no objectives — none of it is known. What we can set out now is the shape a GTA campaign takes, and exactly what appears here once the game is playable.

The short answer

There is no GTA 6 walkthrough, because there is no GTA 6 to walk through. The game releases on 19 November 2026. Not one mission name, objective or ordering has been published by Rockstar, and no build is in anyone else’s hands. Any site offering you a GTA 6 mission list right now made it up.

What is genuinely useful today is knowing the shape of the thing you are waiting for — how a modern GTA campaign is built, where the optional depth hides, and which decisions in a playthrough are hard to undo. That is below, drawn from GTA 5 and labelled as such throughout.

What a modern GTA campaign is made of

Everything in this section describes GTA 5. It is precedent for what a GTA 6 walkthrough will need to cover, not a claim about GTA 6.

Story missions

The spine of the game: a linear-ish sequence of scripted missions, unlocked as the story progresses, sometimes with several available at once. GTA 5 counted 69 story missions toward completion across its three protagonists — but contained closer to 79 in total, because branching choices and three different endings make some mutually exclusive. You cannot see all of them in one playthrough. A walkthrough covers each one: the setup, the objectives, the failure states, and anything the game does not tell you.

That gap between “missions in the game” and “missions in your playthrough” is itself the reason walkthroughs exist. It is also why we will not quote a GTA 6 mission count until we understand which of them are exclusive.

Heists

GTA 5's campaign was structured around five major heists, and they were its most interesting design. Several offered a genuine choice of approach — loud or subtle, broadly — that changed the preparation missions, the crew you needed, the mission itself and the payout. Crew members had skill levels and cut percentages, so a cheap gunman lost you money by fumbling the job while an expensive one took a larger share but delivered. On the final heist the two approaches differed by roughly six million dollars per protagonist. One heist mid-game paid nothing whatsoever.

That is the kind of structure where a walkthrough earns its keep, because the choice is made before you can see its consequences. If GTA 6 has anything similar, comparing approaches will be one of the highest-value pages on this site.

Side missions and encounters

GTA 5 layered three distinct kinds of optional content on top of the story. Strangers and Freaks were named side characters with their own multi-mission threads, marked on the map by a letter — around twenty of them, offering roughly sixty missions between the three protagonists. Random events appeared unmarked as you travelled and vanished if you drove past; there were 57 of them, and the completion counter wanted any 14. Hobbies and activities — tennis, golf, darts, races, flight school, yoga — ran to around sixty, of which 42 were required.

Notice the pattern: the requirements were partial and the totals were not. That distinction is exactly what a completion guide exists to disambiguate, and it is covered at the completion hub.

Optional mission objectives

Every GTA 5 story mission carried a short list of optional objectives — finish inside a time, hit a headshot count, avoid damage — and completing all of them awarded a gold medal. Crucially they could be pursued on replay, so there was no reason to restart a mission repeatedly during a first run. The single most useful piece of GTA 5 walkthrough advice is therefore structural rather than tactical: play the story for the story, then clean up medals with a guide open. We expect to give the same advice for GTA 6, and we will say so explicitly once we know whether the system exists.

What a GTA 6 walkthrough has to get right

  • Spoilers. A walkthrough is read by people mid-mission who do not want the next act ruined. Every mission page here will lead with a spoiler-safe objective summary and keep narrative detail behind an explicit toggle.
  • Missable content. Random events that vanish if you drive past, side threads that close after a story beat, choices that lock out other choices. These are the things a player cannot recover without a second playthrough, and they are the reason walkthroughs exist.
  • Order of operations. In GTA 5 the highest-stakes example was financial: certain side missions were far more lucrative if saved until after the final heist. We cover the GTA 5 version of that on the money hub, and we will flag the GTA 6 equivalent the moment it is understood — ideally before most players have passed the point of no return.
  • Honesty about coverage. Mission pages will state when they were written and by whom, and an unwritten mission will show as unwritten rather than as a stub padded out to look complete.

Why this page will fill slowly, and why that is correct

A mission list can be transcribed in an afternoon. A mission walkthrough requires playing the mission, ideally more than once, and writing down what actually happened. There is no pipeline, no scrape and no shortcut for that; it is one person with a controller and a notepad, working at roughly half the speed of a normal playthrough because they keep stopping to record things.

So the mission index will go live early and the mission pages will land over the following days, in story order, with the ones we have not reached marked clearly. We would rather show you a visibly incomplete guide than a complete-looking guide with invented content in the gaps.

What lands here on launch day

GTA 6 releases on . This page is already live so that it is indexed and established before then. Within the first days after release it is replaced with the real thing:

  1. The complete story mission list, in order, as soon as it is known — this alone answers a large share of launch-day searches.
  2. A page per mission: objectives, any optional or medal requirements, and a spoiler-safe summary above a spoiler-tagged detail section.
  3. Side-content indexes for whatever GTA 6’s equivalents of Strangers and Freaks, random encounters and hobbies turn out to be.
  4. Heist pages, if there are heists, covering each approach separately with its prerequisites and payout.
  5. A branching-choice tracker if the story has consequential choices, so you can see what each one changes before you commit.

Nothing above is published until someone here has verified it in-game or Rockstar has stated it. If that takes longer than a day, the page says so rather than filling the gap with guesses. See how we verify.

Frequently asked

Is there a GTA 6 walkthrough?

No. GTA 6 releases on 19 November 2026 and nobody outside Rockstar has played it, so no walkthrough of it can exist. No mission names, no mission order and no objectives are known. Any GTA 6 mission list published today is invented.

How many missions will GTA 6 have?

Unknown. Rockstar has not stated a mission count and does not usually announce one before release. For scale, GTA 5 counted 69 story missions toward its completion percentage, but contained closer to 79 in total — branching choices and three endings mean no single playthrough sees them all. On top of that sat a large layer of side content: Strangers and Freaks threads, 57 random events and around 60 hobby activities.

Do GTA 6 missions have optional objectives or medals?

Unknown. GTA 5 attached a set of optional objectives to every story mission — things like a time limit, an accuracy threshold or taking no damage — and awarded a gold medal for meeting all of them, checkable and replayable after the story. Whether GTA 6 uses the same system has not been stated.

Will GTA 6 have heists?

Rockstar has not confirmed a heist structure for GTA 6. GTA 5 built its campaign around a series of major heists, several of which offered a choice of approach that changed the mission entirely and affected the payout. It is a reasonable expectation given the trailers show a crime-partnership premise, but it is an expectation, not information.

When will your GTA 6 walkthrough be ready?

The mission index goes up as soon as the mission list is known, which is typically within a day of release. Individual mission walkthroughs follow through the first week as we actually play them. Walkthroughs are the part of this site that cannot be automated or rushed — someone has to play every mission before we can write about it.
