There are no GTA 6 system requirements, because there is no announced GTA 6 PC version. Rockstar has not confirmed that one exists, has not given a window, has not named a storefront and has not published a single hardware figure. Every “GTA 6 minimum specs” table currently on the internet is fabricated.
That is an unsatisfying answer to a question a lot of people are asking, so the rest of this page is about what can legitimately be said instead: what the console version tells us about the engine, what a credible technical analysis concluded about PC, and what would have to happen before a real specification exists.
Why is there no specification?
Take-Two’s own pre-order press release lists the platforms without ambiguity: Grand Theft Auto VI launches 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, sold through the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Store and retailers. There is no PC entry on that list, and Rockstar has never said there will be.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has explained the console-first ordering — telling Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier that the exclusivity window was not related to the Sony marketing deal, and separately that “Rockstar always starts on console because I think with regard to a release like that you’re judged by serving the core.” He has never followed that with a PC commitment.

What does the console version imply about PC hardware?
This is where something useful can actually be said, because Digital Foundry published a technical analysis of the Extended Look footage on 28 August 2026 and its conclusions are specific.
Its findings on the console build, as reported by Pure Xbox and TechRadar:
- The footage appears to render internally at 1440p on base PS5, without dynamic resolution scaling, with “no strong evidence of modern temporal upscalers such as FSR 2 or TAA upscaling being used” — the image reads as a straightforward spatial upscale from 1440p to 4K.
- Performance is a “relatively stable and well-paced 30FPS output, with only very occasional single frame drops.”
- The game uses ray-traced reflections and ray-traced global illumination, while shadows still rely on shadow maps.
- Digital Foundry’s assessment of the frame rate ceiling: “a 60fps version extremely unlikely on console hardware — there’s no way to regain enough GPU and particularly CPU time to make a 16.7ms update rate work without compromising the world.”
That last point is the one that matters for PC. The bottleneck Digital Foundry identifies is not primarily the GPU — it is CPU time spent on world simulation. GPUs are the part of a PC that scales easily; CPU-bound simulation is not.
What did Digital Foundry say about the PC version specifically?
Directly, and it is the single most useful line anyone has published on this subject:
The CPU demand of GTA 6’s complex world could “make hitting 60fps genuinely challenging in a way we don’t often see, and will likely require a high-end CPU like a recent Ryzen X3D to avoid bottlenecks.”
Read that carefully, because it is easy to over-claim from. It is not a Rockstar specification. It is not a minimum requirement. It is a well-grounded estimate, from analysts looking at console footage of a build that has no PC counterpart, about what a hypothetical PC version might demand to clear 60fps. Digital Foundry itself framed the PC outlook as needing “some level of caution.”
What it usefully rules out is the assumption that a PC version automatically means a smooth high-frame-rate version. On a game this CPU-heavy, a mid-range CPU paired with an expensive GPU is the configuration most likely to disappoint.
What the console build does and does not tell you

Can I estimate from Red Dead Redemption 2’s PC requirements?
You can, and it is the least bad available anchor — but understand how weak it is.
RDR2’s PC port arrived roughly a year after its console release and shares engine lineage with GTA 6, so its requirements are the closest published reference point. What has changed since is the entire relevant context: GTA 6 uses ray-traced global illumination that RDR2 did not, carries a simulation load Rockstar quantifies as well over 600,000 animations against RDR2’s roughly 300,000, and targets a world Rob Nelson says is three times the size of RDR2’s.
A requirements list for a game with one third the world and none of the ray tracing is not a forecast. It is a floor, at best.
What would have to happen for real numbers to exist
In order, and none of these has happened:
- Rockstar announces a PC version of GTA 6.
- Rockstar or a storefront gives it a release window.
- A Steam, Epic or Rockstar Games Store listing goes live with a specification block.
- Rockstar publishes a supplementary performance guide, as it did for RDR2 on PC.
Step three is the one that produces the table everyone is searching for, and it typically lands weeks rather than months before a PC release.
